HAVE YOU TRIED PLANNING YOUR BUSINESS IN 90 DAY SPRINTS?

Breaking your 12 month plan for your business into 90 day sprints is great way to have defined goals and actionable steps to work towards your bigger picture vision.

90 Day or Quarterly Sprints are less overwhelming than working through an Annual Plan but more effective than getting caught up weekly tasks or the daily grind.

Here’s how it works:

  • Set up a vision for the quarter (this could be a mini-version of your Annual Goal & Vision)

  • Decide on up to three goals that will be your focus for the quarter then then break each into up to three projects. They need to have enough stretch to be challenging and make a leap forward but realistic as you’ll of course have day-to-day work to manage as well. These could be things like launching a new service or reaching a revenue goal.

  • Break the priority projects down into manageable baby steps over the 3-month window. Write these steps down as tangible actions and allocate the action to the month in which you will complete it. Ideally, map these into your project management tool (e.g. Asana, Trello, Notion etc.)

  • You’ll probably need a whole day to do this. You could try blocking out your diary as a Strategic Planning day and work somewhere different to usual so that you can really get in the zone without the usual distractions.

When the quarter is done it’s time for Reflection:

  • Review each goal and take stock. Try to understand what’s worked well and what hasn’t. What have been the challenges & what did you learn that you can take forward into the next quarter and beyond?

  • Don’t forget to celebrate your wins and reward yourself and your team!
